One of the biggest problems people run into when building their teardrop trailer is when they get to the ceiling. The thin sheets of luan for the ceiling are first glued together and then after they dry you have one long sheet of luan that you run through and under the roof spars and then attach it to the spars once you get it into place. Sounds easy enough, however when you start trying to work and bend the long thin sheet of luan to the curves of the teardrop without cracking or breaking it.....it becomes a whole different story. I would estimate that apx. 65 to 70 percent of the people building a teardrop for the first time end up cracking or breaking the luan during this process and have to go buy more luan and start the whole process over again. Leading to more time and money, not to mention frustration.

The only difference between our 5 x 8 and our 5 x 10 teardrop plans is the size and the profiles since we built and designed our 5 x 10 teardrop from our classic 5 x 8 teardrop plans.
The Frame:
A lot of folks prefer to build the teardrop from one of the little Northern Tools or Harbor Freight type of bolt together trailer frames like the one pictured below because by doing so they already have a good portion of the building completed for them and they don't have to worry about having the teardrop inspected in order to get a registration and license plate for it because they already have it. There are a number of advantages to using one of those little trailers for your frame. So if you choose to use one of these little trailers for your teardrop, we have included instructions specifically for building the teardrop from one of these trailers. But for those of you that would prefer to build your own frame, we also included the trailer frame plans, instructions and materials list for each of the teardrop trailer frames at no extra charge. So you will have all the info you need no matter which way you choose to go.
