These plans and instructions give you a couple options for your trailer frame, the plans and instructions for both are included.

the use of one of these trailers for building your teardrop. 
If you have the folding type, we include instructions on 
how to make a couple small modifications to the trailer 
to make it safe and sturdy.

It may increase the cost of building the trailer slightly, 
but we feel it is worth the difference  And by using one 
of these trailers, you already have a big part of the 
construction complete and you can go right to building 
the actual teardrop itself, and you don't need to have 
the DOT inspection because you already have your title.
We have included the trailer frame plans, materials 
list and step by step instructions absolutely free.

Or if you happen to have an old 5 x 8 or 5 x 10 utility 
trailer that you never use for anything or you know 
someone who does that you might purchase it from 
fairly cheap, then you've got it made. You can also 
watch craigslist etc.

If you do build the frame, once your trailer is complete, 
you will need to have it inspected by DOT and they will 
issue you a vin# so that you can get it registered and 
get your license plate. 

If you use one of the little utility trailers like the ones 
you can purchase at Northern Tools, Home Depot etc., 
you don't have to get the DOT inspection because you 
already have a title and registration.

Our 5 x 8 and our 5 x 10 Teardrop Camp Trailers have enough room for a queen size mattress that only weigh between 575 - 650 lbs. loaded. And we show you how we built the5 x 8 teardrops for under $700. Of course as time goes by prices of materials increase, but we did put in the information on where to get the best prices on the materials so that you will be able to build your teardrop trailer at the lowest possible cost.

When I decided to build my first teardrop trailer, I had purchased several different sets of plans and I was unable to use any of them. They were either incomplete, badly copied old magazine article, or just plain unsafe.
After becoming frustrated, I spoke to a friend who also designs and builds trailers, and between the two of us, we came up with this design and set of plans, then as I built my first trailer, we wrote out step by step, easy to understand instructions. 

And fortunately for you, we have now built a number of these trailers and we learned a few tricks along the way, so we updated the instructions and included some tips and tricks we learned to give you the best information possible.
